How it started: David grew up in Natchez, Mississippi during the 60's, the son of a laborer in a tire factory. His mother was well read and intensely involved in the civil rights movement. She was an assistant to the first black mayor to be elected in Mississippi since Reconstruction. That made things quite interesting for David and his family living in this small community in the deep south during the Civil Rights movement.

David was fifth of six in the birth order in a large Catholic family. Their home was filled with music and David's older brother was a Jazz musician. They were also exposed to the heartfelt worship in many southern black churches. The result was that David started playing the piano at five and was in his own rock band at 12. Music was an outlet and an identity for an otherwise insecure child. David spent a year in college majoring in Jazz when he realized his time would be better spent actually playing and writing in the music industry. At 20 he moved to Muscle Shoals, Alabama and worked as a keyboard player and session singer in a recording studio with many "name" celebrities of the time. At 21 David met Rita in a KFC Restaurant. Rita, who was raised in a Pentecostal church, led David to the Lord.

David and Rita have traveled in music ministry for most of their married life (since 1984) and have three daughters, a son-in-law, and a grandson on the way!

Personal Passion: Music is David's passion. It's a creative venue to communicate his relationship with the Lord. Teaching, playing, song writing, leading worship, and writing books are all expressions of an underlying passion for the Lord... to communicate the wonder and adventure of His majesty.

Personal Benefit: Flowing in the Spirit in music is a little like extemporaneous Jazz which reminds David of the musical freedom in those black churches of his childhood. The experience of touching the presence of God as His vessel and leading others into that same release is amazing.

There is a connection with the heart experience of Releasing Kings. Most of us learn the thrill of stepping into the presence of God first in worship. As Kings we can experience that same breakthrough in the marketplace. Our hearts are thrilled when we find that our dream and God's will have a strategic overlap. Creativity in any field feels a lot like worship... because it is.

Value to others: Music and worship is really the sound of heaven on earth. It helps us see the invisible and hear the voice of God ourselves; when we really experience the tangible presence of God.

David has shared his songs all over the world and receives daily emails telling of the impact of his music in people's lives. He works with worship teams, does teaching conferences, helps musicians flow together, and teaches others how to write songs and tap their own creative stream.

Business PotentialIn the past, David has made his living traveling through love offerings, song royalties and CD / product sales. Even though the Lord in His faithfulness has provided them with a nice home, cars, and good schools for their children, David is excited about the “Kingdom Potential” of his gifts as people all over the world awake to the wonder and power of the gospel, and the church is rescued from religiosity to know the joy of the Lord.

Most recently David has seen doors open to write and release songs in the pop / country field with a Biblical theme. He co-wrote a powerful song about forgiveness that is currently being presented to several well known artists. I personally expect to see David on TV someday, receiving a grammy for a hit song(s) he wrote.

Vision for the Kingdom: David heard a prophetic word that has become his own theme, "a new anointing is coming in music that will take the Gospel into the marketplace." God's people are waking up to their real identity as the sons that creation has been waiting for; as those who will cover the earth with the glory of God.

The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed... creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. Rom 8:19-21 NIV

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. Hab 2:14 NIV

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth. Ps 108:5 NIV

Impact from Releasing Kings:  Releasing Kings confirmed things God had been speaking to David over the last several years. It reawakened some dreams that were slumbering in his heart. David found it provocative yet Biblical. We're called to take the initiative and "go".

How Can David Help You:

see www.davidbaroni.com/ and particularly his web store and blog.

David knows how to lead people into worship. Many worship services consist of songs with little participation from the congregation. David's music and his knowledge of free form worship and the prophetic create a special place for people to "enter in." Nineteen teaching tapes can be downloaded free from his web site.

David travels, sings and speaks, conducts worship encounter weekends, and works directly with worship teams. His first book is The Jazz Preacher and Rita has written Fragrance of Grace. David has published a songbook of 34 choruses he has written including “O Draw Me Lord” (recorded by Michael W. Smith, Selah, Nataile Grant and others) “Ain’t Gonna Let No Rock” and “He’s Been Good” recorded by Ron Kenoly and many other familiar songs for use by worship leaders. See his Song sheets for praise and worship.

David's web site has a resources page that includes his books, CD's, downloads, and songs for digital downloading. David also has a wonderful series of spontaneously inspired instrumental CD's called FingerPaintings.

You can listen to a variety of David's music via video on youtube.
