David Harris Destiny In Business
Dave & Susan Harris Personal
How it started: David was born in Toronto the the middle child of an electrical engineer in a musical family of 5. He was raised in the United Church. After high school he took six months of training in broadcasting and took a job as a radio announcer and TV weather forecaster that required 5 years of traveling. His brother quit his job and went to a formal seminary and told David about his relationship with the Lord. Ron sent some lengthy, intellectual papers to David and David's response was, "Lord if you're real, let me know." On New Years Eve, 1977 Ron's wife talked to David on the phone, and The Holy Spirit turned the light on. That night David experienced the reality of God's presence for the first time in his home and accepted Jesus into his life.
David gave up his career in radio and went to Bible College where he met and married his wife Susan. He has always been a "self-starting entrepreneur - somewhat against his father's wishes to "get a regular job." He's started three consulting companies. He worked closely with Les Hewitt, author of "The Power of Focus" and doubled The Achievers Coaching Program. Les turned out to be a personal mentor for David, and sparked his vision to experience everything they coached. David is currently a shareholder and commissioned broker in the Calgary market for a Financial Services Company. The company is staffed with Christians and currently supports missions initiatives with proceeds.
Personal Benefit: David has found the joy of working on his passion instead of just putting time in to gain a salary for a job. Seeing his life integrated so that his vocation and ministry are becoming one has been fun and rewarding.
Value to others: As an encourager, David is a natural coach who has experienced all the same doubts, fears, and self-esteem issues we all do. Yet, he has been able to translate his dream into reality and understands the process of being creative, taking steps to facilitate the idea, and marketing the project. He has engaged in personal coaching, conferences and workshops to help others make the same steps.
Business Potential (upside): David's financial services company provides personal coaching and practical opportunities for tax relief, cash flow and maximizing income. Missions initiatives have touched Sri Lanka, Lebanon, and Africa.
On the personal side David is headed toward a variety of books, seminars, and coaching aids that will help Kings find themselves.
Complexities, failures (downside): People are tempted by the "quick return" instead of having a purpose driven financial strategy that includes giving - also with purpose. It takes wisdom and a mentor to navigate prosperity. Too many go the trial and error route and don't live long enough to have the impact God planned.
Vision for the Kingdom: People are looking for mentors that show them how to be "Kingly." David is an example of an encourager
Impact from Releasing Kings: As an electrical engineer David's father could never endorse his entrepreneurial nature. He grew up feeling like a black sheep unable to reconcile his own nature with his fathers expectations. Releasing Kings reversed that, and David received the revelation that his heavenly father wired him just the way he is for good reason. He's been freed to flow with his own prophetic instincts. He's called to help others find their identity as Kings.
