How to Start a Small Group
- Kings are increasingly getting
involved in Bible study or mentoring groups to facilitate their
"Release." Here are some helpful
suggestions

our
Vision Brochure with graphics show how to become a King and how your
can help Release Kings.

Mid-Course Corrections
Knowing when to change - Have you
ever stubbornly hung on to your direction when all the signs we're
saying "dead end?" Hind sight is always 20/20. We can look back at wrong
decisions and wonder how we missed the obvious hints to make a
mid-course correction. I'm occasionally amazed how my hopes and bias can
cause me to be deaf and blind regarding the signals flashing in front of
me. Whenever I enter a situation with a sense that I know how it's going
to turn out, I'm prone to miss the signals that everything is actually
headed in a different direction.
You'll
be encouraged to know it's not a new phenomenon. The Bible terms are
"stiff-necked" and "hard-hearted". The result affects our ability to
hear and see. We effectively stop "learning" from circumstances, other
people, and the Holy Spirit. Listen to God explain it.
11 "But they refused to pay attention; stubbornly they turned their
backs and stopped up their ears. 12 They made their hearts as
hard as flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that
the LORD Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier
prophets. So the LORD Almighty was very angry. Zech 7:11-12 NIV
14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: "'You will be
ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but
never perceiving. 15 For this people's heart has become
calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed
their eyes. Matt 13:14-15 NIV
16 Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any
longer. Deut 10:16 NIV
51 "You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You
are just like your fathers: You always resist the Holy Spirit!
Acts 7:51 NIV
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus
whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the
pricks. Acts 9:5 KJV
Doing what the Father does - One of
the keys to staying young in spirit and in tune with change is to "do
what the father does." There are different times and seasons in the
Kingdom. The cloud occasionally moves and so does the emphasis. God is
the same yesterday, today and forever in character but what He's doing
changes all the time. You may ask, "Why does God change his direction at
this point?" Good question. God is relationally interactive. His
interaction with us adjusts to changes in circumstances and the
decisions we make.
And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead
them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light;
to go by day and night: Ex 13:21 KJV
He guided them with the cloud by day and with light from the fire
all night. Ps 78:14 NIV
The wind blows wherever it
pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from
or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
John 3:8 NIV
In Christ - The concept of being "in
Christ" simply means we're cooperating with what the Father is doing.
Whenever the emphasis changes we can "hear and see" and make the
adjustment. The Holy Spirit is faithful to pull us into every move so we
don't get left behind in an old decision. We not only do what the Father
does, we carry an anointing to do greater things. It's not just copying
the details, it's understanding the directions and taking new
initiatives in harmony with God's direction. We're not just doing what
we're told; we're asking for "whatever" and operating in a new level of
authority and fruitfulness. Listen to the dynamic that results in
"greater things."
Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do
nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing ,
because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the
Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your
amazement he will show him even greater things than these.
John 5:19-20 NIV
Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in
me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the
Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I
say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least
believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12 I tell you
the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been
doing. He will do even greater things than these, because
I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask
in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You
may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. John
14:9-14 NIV
I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his
master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for
everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go
and bear fruit — fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you
whatever you ask in my name. 17 This is my command: Love each
other. John 15:14-17 NIV
Guidance Theology - One theological
strain of "doing what the Father does" is waiting for the Holy Spirit to
show us the details of every move. God does show us the big picture, but
he normally waits for us to insert some initiative to "ask whatever"
regarding the details. If we expect God to guide us on the details, this
faulty theology translates to an inability to make mid-course
corrections. We get the dial tone when we pray.
If we think God led
us into something, we'll stay on that course until He leads us in a
different direction. What happens if He's not guiding us at that level
of detail? Easy, we just stay on the old course; deaf and blind
regarding the obvious signs until we shipwreck. I see that mentality in
business a lot - especially from Christians. God expects us to pick up
on the general direction of His Spirit and make wise decisions to
implement our involvement. That's the message of proverbs: General
guidance and specific wisdom.
Childlike - Learning how to do new
things isn't normally a function of the Holy Spirit. He leads us in new
directions, but learning new things to implement the new direction
normally comes from the wisdom of a mentor. Many believers are either
too proud or too spiritual to ask for help from a wise mentor. In
business and investing, successful people love to share their insights.
They usually take satisfaction in helping others become successful. We
have to adjust to being child-like to follow their example. You can
graduate from sitting in church to being a King in the kingdom with a
ministry in the marketplace when you become child-like enough to ask for
help. Amazingly simple, isn't it?
He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3 And he
said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like
little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest
in the kingdom of heaven. Matt 18:2-4 NIV

PS: I want to recommend some
follow-up reading.
Who is God by Harold Eberle provides the best explanation of
a more relational view of God. It's must reading that connects our perception
of God with everyday life.
Releasing Kings for Ministry in the Marketplace takes that
foundation into marketplace ministry and the entrepreneurial nature
of Kings. Fruit in the marketplace naturally springs out of sound
doctrine.
Desire to Destiny - Takes the foundation and marketplace
ministry and puts them in the context of seven practical keys or
stages of growth you can apply in your own life.
You're invited into the
vision to release Kings; communicate the message, make the money, and do
the mission.
-
The Message - Our first goal is to
get the Releasing Kings message into the hands of the messengers that
will carry it... do it, preach it, teach it, example it.
-
The Money - The second goal is to
help Kings break out of poverty by networking them with practical
opportunities to prosper. We want to introduce them to the right people,
the right opportunity, and the right financial approach.
-
The Mission - Network Kings with
opportunities to mix business and missions. Accomplish the great
commission through the marketplace.
