Dreams Do Come True
Lack of words –
I’m dreaming about
the newly saved business men and women in Poland and Ukraine. We have
no
language that conveys the importance of their marketplace ministry. If
ministry
occurs, we call it church… mega church, community church, house church,
cell
church, simple church. I’m endorsing all of these models of church.
However,
the point of church is equipping the saints for something beyond church
(Kingdom). All of our church models are prone to encourage the saints
to park
in church instead of moving into the Kingdom and extending ministry
into the
marketplace, making money and having fun doing it. All of our models
view
revival and salvation as a pathway to more “church meetings.” Getting
rid of
the four walls just moves the location of the meeting. Having our
meetings in
the mall or a restaurant and calling it “kingdom” misses the point at
well.
Kings own restaurants and malls! Maybe a better question is, “How can
the
church join them?”
What’s the point? -
By the way, our
conferences in Poland and Ukraine were meetings in churches and we fell
in love
with the pastors! I’m in favor of more pastors and more churches,
regardless of
the model. My only point is that I think we’ve lost the reason for
having
church. The fruit of church has historically been more Christians so
that we
can have more church. It’s kind of like a perpetual motion machine that
exists
for its own self-propagation! We have traditionally felt quite holy
about the
whole circular process. If salvation is our only goal, then church is
the only vehicle
we need. However, if we’re going to change the world, then we need to
occupy
six more mountains. Lance Wallnau gives a great summary of the seven
mountain concept.
We’re
supposed to produce disciples who can
“make disciples of all nations.” We don’t really have the language that
elevates the importance of ministry in the six other mountains to a
level that
is equally important as “church.” My message to business men and women
is that
when they tap the desire of their heart and really grasp their calling,
they
will be advancing the Kingdom. That doesn’t mean they stop going to
church. In
fact, it might mean that they help plant more churches.
The
goal of the disciples we produce in church
is “going” to those six other mountains. We can restore freedom through
Kings
in the government mountain. We can restore the world wide economy
through Kings
in the business mountain. Cultures will be impacted in amazing ways as
Kings
arise in the media, education, family and the entertainment mountains.
Missions -
Our concept of
missions is looks a little different for Kings. A mission usually
conveys the
concept of self-sacrifice, poverty, or danger (we need your money to do
our
ministry). I want to suggest that Kings are motivated for ministry out
of the
desires of our heart. It’s a dream-come-true that also has an
ingredient of
prosperity. I could describe our trip to Europe in terms of the cost,
the jet
lag, and the stress of warfare; the huge sacrifice “I” made. It would
be a lie.
It was really a party in the presence of God with some really great
people. I
haven’t had that much fun in years, nor have I seen that much fruit.
Every day
I was over there, I made friends and money… much more than I spent. We
asked
pastors not to give us offerings!
Work -
Our vocational work
should be our ministry calling. That work should thrill our hearts and
result
in our dreams coming true. Our cup should overflow spiritually and
financially.
Ministry to people should be a natural byproduct of a fulfilling life.
When our
cup is really running over, other people notice and they naturally want
to know
where the spring is… its Jesus’ life, and life more abundantly.
Dreams do come
true! –
I used to believe
that my personal goal was to be faithful to God and therefore faithful
in
church. That meant going to the meetings, tithing, sharing the ministry
load by
helping the pastor (20 years). I didn’t adjust that much after I became
a
pastor (13 years). Now that I have 10,000 meetings under my belt, I’m
realizing
that “faithful in church” is not my life’s ambition. My real goal as a
King is
to “have fun, make money, and love people” somewhere in the marketplace
in my
own mountain where my (and God’s) dreams come true. In this case, the
dream is
to Release other Kings.
That
doesn’t mean I’m on a crusade against
church. The church is the place we’re all equipped. We learn the
language of
the Holy Spirit through Godly pastors in church worship, prayer, and
the word. It’s
fun, worthwhile, important to God, and essential for making disciples.
Worship,
prayer, church… are all important. But those things are really pathways
into
the desires of our heart as we graduate from servant to King. The
greatest
challenge for Kings right now is learning to access the desires of
their hearts
and multiply finances. Dreams can come true, but they usually cost
money. God
can teach us how to create wealth. (I am on a crusade to make wealth
creation
part of our discipleship process in church.)
But
remember the Lord
your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and
so
confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is
today. Deut
8:18 NIV
Note:
He usually employs a mentor with the wisdom
of proverbs and the character of George Patton.
How to create
wealth –
I really believe the
first step is realizing that God wants us (Kings) to create wealth.
Exactly
how, is a function of our dream and our calling. Just realizing it’s
possible
opens many doors of faith and initiative…. Start knocking. Mentors are
a
practical aspect of wealth creation: someone who has done it before and
knows
how. We’ve written a number of prior newsletters on the topic:

- In
the New Testament, the mentions of Jesus’ public appearances were 122
out of 132 times in the marketplace.
- Of
the 52 parables Jesus told, 45 were in the marketplace
context.
- Of
40 divine interventions recorded in Acts, 39 were in the marketplace.
- Jesus
spent more than 50 percent of His adult life as a carpenter until age
30 before He went into a preaching ministry in the workplace.
- Jesus
called 12 workplace individuals, not clergy, to build His Church.
- Work
is worship – The Hebrew word Avodah is the root for
the word from which we get the words “work” and “worship”.
- Work
in its different forms is mentioned more than 800 times in the Bible;
more than all the words used to express “worship”, “music”, “praise”,
and “singing” combined.

PS: I want
to recommend some follow-up reading.
Who
is God by Harold Eberle provides the best
explanation of a more relational view of God. It's must reading that
connects our perception of God with everyday life.
Releasing
Kings for Ministry in the Marketplace takes that
foundation into marketplace ministry and the entrepreneurial nature of
Kings. Fruit in the marketplace naturally springs out of sound doctrine.
Desire
to Destiny - Takes the foundation and marketplace
ministry and puts them in the context of seven practical keys or stages
of growth you can apply in your own life.
You're
invited into the vision
to release Kings; communicate the message, make the money,
and do the mission.
-
The Message
- Our first goal is to get the Releasing Kings message into the hands
of the messengers that will carry it... do it, preach it, teach it,
example it.
-
The Money -
The second goal is to help Kings break out of poverty by networking
them with practical opportunities to prosper. We want to introduce them
to the right people, the right opportunity, and the right financial
approach.
-
The Mission
- Network Kings with opportunities to mix business and missions.
Accomplish the great commission through the marketplace and occupy the Seven mountains
of: business, media, arts & entertainment, education, family
and government in addition to the church. See
video #1 and video #2
