Face time - in a prior newsletter called Face Time we emphasized the role of fellowship with other Kings and gave some examples of organizations that facilitate Kings meeting with Kings. Last week we talked about partnering with others to make big dreams come true, a concept that is well explained in Mentored by a Millionaire by Steve Scott. Here's the secret - when you run into a wall with your dream, other people can show you how to break out of your stalemate. This week let's take the process a step farther with help from Kennan Burch who started the Dream Builders Network. Give yourself permission to dream - The first step toward your personal dream is realization that you will find the will of God inside your personal passion. Religion is all about doing what other people think you should. Christianity is really all about pursuing the purpose and passion God created you with. It's very liberating to experience this aspect of our redemption! It feels like a jail break. Confess it - The second step happens when you feel comfortable enough with your dream to share it with others. That's a big step. We have to overcome feelings of being self-centered to embrace the greatness and abundance that God has for us to accomplish something big in the Kingdom. Our identity is built around becoming Kings that make a difference in the marketplace instead of monks lost in holy obscurity. Develop it - As you are well aware, when your dream is put to paper with goals, steps and individual tasks, things go wrong. Instead of giving up, we just adjust our plan, learn from the circumstance and keep going. Easier said than done. Nearly all corporations have a CEO who is singularly responsible for the the dream of the company. The CEO has a board of directors consisting of people he can't afford to hire full time. Each board member has a specific expertise that supports the dream or vision of the company. When problems come up, the CEO already has a built-in set of counselors with the right skills and experience to solve issues. We all need the same kind of help for our dream.
The CEO support group (his board) can be available to each of us. It's a little like church. Some might even say that this small group is church (a debate we'll shelve for the moment). When I was first exposed to Kennan's Dream Builders Network, it was apparent that he had tapped into the networking that God is doing in the lives of Kings. Instead of a corporate board, it's a small group of Kings that each have a dream. They meet periodically for the express purpose of making those dreams come true. The key ingredients are that they have all given themselves permission to dream. They confess those dreams to one another and prophetically take a step toward making them reality. As they listen to the dreams of friends, their hearts are stirred and challenged to find more puzzle pieces to completely develop their own dream.
