Story #1
-
Duane Smith and
John Laney
had lunch with me last week. Duane was in
Kakinada
India last summer (06) for a
crusade
and pastors conference. He mentioned that one of the world's largest
gas reserves had been discovered in the bay (A quick google search
revealed that
one oil
company is planning to invest $9B just to develop the site). At that
point John pointed out that God has released this discovery as a result
of their trip. Something clicked in my spirit when those
words came out. It's true. Believers carry breakthrough with them where
ever they go!
Story #2 -
Brian and
Dawnya Sasse moved from Bend, Oregon to a small town of 1200 -
Washington, Kansas. Dawnya has an information based internet business
called Tea Events. They purchased 13,000 feet of office space in a
declining mid-western town to revitalize the spirit and the economy of
the city such that the next generation would want to stay there. They
prayer walk the courthouse for God's blessing on the city routinely. The
result - even unsaved people tell them something changed in the city when they came. Other businesses
have since moved in and something has broken in the spiritual realm.
Brian and Dawnya are not preaching crusades or doing conferences. They
simply moved their business to Washington, became part of the city and
prophetically represent the presence of God. They intentionally targeted
a city as their "land" and went there to have an impact. This story is
just beginning; Dawnya and Brian moved to Washington just 6 weeks ago.
Pretty amazing!
So How does it work?
- We have more impact than we realize. We carry
the presence of God with us into new areas. This is the beginning of an
apostolic anointing in which "sent ones" are having miraculous impact.
It is especially relevant in the marketplace because God is "sending"
His people (Kings) to land he wishes to impact. They are taking much
more than sermons; Kings carry an anointing to change economic
conditions and the practical know-how to implement a new idea. They can
also "minister" in the traditional priestly sense; crusades with healing
and salvations or teaching conferences. Just like Paul, they bring
"tents" and "revival."
Note: Not
everyone has experienced the feeling of leaving home to represent
God. Here's a story of what it feels like: My daughter, Heather, and I went to Russia in 1995 to help
start a church and conduct a simple evangelistic service. After the
altar call about 30 people being saved were being ministered to in
Russian by the pastor and his helpers behind us on a large stage. We
had nothing to do so I offered to pray for any sickness in the 200
people remaining in their seats. I was dismayed when they nearly all
came forward and formed a line leading to the stairs to the
platform; also a little unnerved because my track record back home
praying for the sick wasn't that great. As we prayed for people
virtually every one was touched in some unmistakable way by the
Lord. One lame man ran laps around the auditorium! At one point I
asked the interpreter to see if she could feel the heat radiating
from a damaged back we prayed for... she jerked her hand back and
said it was hot.... All that to simply say, "if you happen to be the
one being sent, amazing things happen." Its got little to do with
your abilities. You just have to have enough faith to stay out of
the way and expect great things. Now I can't wait to go to a
conference or on any kind of trip (even if it's just to see the
relatives). I have gotten used to stepping into another dimension of
power. It's just what God is doing right now through everyone
willing to "Go."
I know at times, living in my own community I feel
invisible, unheard, having no impact. I actually devalue my status as
Christ's ambassador (2 Cor 5:20). However, there are strategic moves or
visits we make that have a profound impact. We must simply put our foot
on the land he's assigned us to possess... one prophetic act and God
does the rest.
...then the LORD will drive out all these nations before you, and
you will dispossess nations larger and stronger than you. 24 Every
place where you set your foot will be yours: Your territory
will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the Euphrates River
to the western sea. 25 No man will be able to stand against you.
The LORD your God, as he promised you, will put the terror and fear
of you on the whole land, wherever you go. Deut 11:23-25 NIV
I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I
promised Moses. Josh 1:2-3 NIV
So on that day Moses swore to me, 'The land on which your feet
have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children
forever, because you have followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly.'
Josh 14:9 NIV
Can I walk in this?
- The answer is yes. We're all designed to be God's
ambassadors and we all have a role in expanding the Kingdom throughout
the earth. Here's the key. You have to say yes to being a King, being
entrepreneurial, and taking your anointing into the marketplace. Is it
hard? Yes and no - It's really hard for the "religious" mindset; instead
of laying down all your ambitions you have to pick them up and pursue
your heart's desire. No more spiritual martyrs. Instead of dying daily
you have to come alive daily and get excited about life; making money;
blessing people; and having fun (my definition of witnessing).
The
apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been
counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. 42 Day after day,
in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped
teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.
Acts 5:41-42 NIV
When God's people decide to join the party and
start rejoicing the stage is set for some pretty strange things to
happen... one chapter later.
So the
word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased
rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the
faith. Acts 6:7
Life is an adventure. People are a blessing.
God is amazing. We're winning.
