Kings – Break Droughts
Easter is an annual
reminder of the power of resurrection life. We all go through seasons of
blessing (rain) and loss (drought). In this newsletter I want to adjust
your perspective on how to deal with drought. Just as an aside, I have a
friend on a ranch in Montana (John
Moore) who has a distinctly prophetic ministry and he's making plans
to break a seven year drought in the upper mid-west through prayer (you
can watch this one on a
drought monitor).
He is an example of the level of initiative that is available to
believers.
10 I want to know Christ and
the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his
sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, to
attain to the resurrection from the dead. Phil 3:10-11
Christians grow up in
Christ learning to allow carnal appetites to “die” but often lack an
equivalent emphasis on learning how to have “life and life more
abundantly” living in the power of resurrection life. In summary the
model of our book (Releasing
Kings) is this.
-
Pastors/priests have the job of
making disciples with a servant's heart in the church. Their
emphasis is helping people overcome personal problems so they can be
equipped for the work of ministry (which largely occurs outside the
church via the great commission to “go.”) Pastors teach people to
overcome personal problems so they can be exporters of God’s
abundance.
-
Kings have the role of expanding
the Kingdom of God outside the church. They have “graduated” from
servants or bond slaves of God to friends of God. The world, outside
the kingdom, is largely in some kind of drought and it’s the job of
Kings to be channels to bring the refreshing rain of God (both
naturally and spiritually) to a dry and thirsty land.
Two Perspectives on Ps 68
6 God sets the lonely in
families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the
rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. 7 When you went out
before your people, O God, when you marched through the wasteland,
Selah 8 the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain,
before God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. 9
You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed
your weary inheritance. 10 Your people settled in it, and
from your bounty, O God, you provided for the poor. Ps
68:6-10
1. Servants in Drought
(repent)
Now let's assume
you're facing a drought of some kind (whether lack of rain, business,
finances, ministry fruitfulness, or the presence of God… whatever). If
you’re in the midst of becoming a disciple and learning to “serve”
you’ll focus on the need to overcome your rebellion and repent during a
drought. You'll read Ps 68 and see that the "rebellious live in a
dry and thirsty land" and assign the phrase to yourself. You’ll
naturally gravitate toward accepting your circumstance as being from the
hand of God… and you’ll gravitate toward a theology that justifies
drought and minimizes abundance. I've cherry-picked a couple of verses
used (misused?) for that purpose:
10 Whoever loves money never
has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his
income. This too is meaningless. 11 As goods increase, so do those
who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owner except to
feast his eyes on them? Eccl 5:10-11
6 But godliness with
contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world,
and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and
clothing, we will be content with that. 9 People who want to get
rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and
harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10 For
the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager
for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with
many griefs. 1 Tim 6:6-10
The result - You'll
feel quite holy in the midst of your drought; believing that God
designed it especially for you to break off sinful habits... and you
will remain in your dry and thirsty land - because you have faith for
it.
Please note that I'm not
discounting the possibility that we may really have a sin problem
that has earned us a trip through the wilderness. I just don't want
it to be your only theological option.
2. Kings in Drought (make
it rain)
What if you face
drought as a King? You would read the same verse (Ps 68:6-10) and see
the purpose of God is to have the heavens pour down rain and bring
abundant showers. Why? So His weary inheritance would be refreshed and
the abundant bounty would feed the poor. Kings have the ability to look
beyond their personal issues and see the bigger picture of God’s plan –
He’s all about expanding the Kingdom and overcoming droughts until the
whole earth is filled with His glory and watered like a garden. Kings
are committed to taking the battle to every tongue, tribe and nation
“and overcoming.”
Now, let’s go back to
our ranch in Montana. Do you think John Moore will be successful in
breaking a 7 year drought in the mid-west? I do! Because I believe
that’s what God is committed to. He’s just looking for Kings with
enough authority to make it happen. I believe Kings carry "rivers" of
living water within them that can turn any worldly drought into God's
abundance... spiritually, naturally, and financially.
The effective, fervent
prayer of a righteous man avails much. 17 Elijah was a man with a
nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain;
and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18
And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth
produced its fruit. James 5:16-18 NKJV
38 He that believeth on me,
as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of
living water. John 7:38 KJV
The Bottom Line
If you’re receiving
this newsletter, you’re either a King or at least you want to be one.
That means God has you on the front lines expanding His Kingdom where
there is no Godly influence. Odds are you’re experiencing some kind of
drought, because that’s what the world is like before it’s moved under
God’s influence. The drought may have been caused by rebellion (every
situation is potentially different), but droughts are overcome by the
assertive faith and prayer of Kings executing the plan of God. Don’t
fall into some kind of introverted condemnation assuming you’re personal
sinfulness is the root cause. Take up your sword and possess your land.

FYI - People in
Australia are already praying away drought through prayer.

Kings - In a season of
prayer and fasting
In the last couple of
newsletters we shared a
prophetic call to prayer. You're email responses are so instructive that I created
a special web page, "You
Wrote Back" to share them. Thanks - feel free to email us.

expecting God to do great things on the international scene... Sue and
Linda are both going as well.

A Teacher's Guide
We've completed the
first version of a study guide that targets those teaching the material
in Releasing Kings. It includes a page of notes on each chapter, all
the graphics suitable to make overheads, and a PDF file of the book with
the key points highlighted that includes marginal notes, comments, and
questions. This material is available for purchase on the
teacher's guide page of the web.

Friends Tell Friends
Harold and I have
both been hesitant to "market" this book... sounds self-serving. Here's
the "grassroots" reality. God has given us a great tool to communicate
a message that sets people free in an amazing, contagious, life-changing
way. If you haven't read it - get it. If you have read it - give it.

We've gotten a ton of
positive feedback on the newsletter too... get it, give it.
Reloading Seniors was powerful. Pass the link on.

PS: don't forget to
look at the free reports - show your pastor the article on marketplace
ministry from the pastor's perspective. You can simply email him this
link or print a copy to give him.
