The Reason
For God by Timothy Keller is a great new book by a
Presbyterian pastor in secular Manhattan. After every service he would
entertain questions from a cross section of society. His Book answers
the objections to our culture. I found it to be interesting and
helpful... a great gift for a new believer.
New Wine in New
Wineskins
Change comes slow -
In our conferences we share about being becoming Kings who are
entrepreneurial, prosperous, and ministry oriented. One tendency in all
of us is to get really excited and share the message with others rather
than see it happen in our own lives. The result is often a little
frustrating especially if you try to share a Kingly message with your
pastor or a church committee and expect them to run with it. They won't.
The same is true for
evangelism. We're responsible to be witnesses, sharing what we've
experienced; examples of God's working. The Holy Spirit is responsible
for conviction and salvation. Releasing Kings is a grassroots movement
that is springing up in many different places, in many different forms
all over the world. New wine goes in new wineskins. Wineskins are
generally thought to be new structures or organizations. Wine is the new
anointing or move of God.
36 He told them this parable: "No one tears a patch from a new
garment and sews it on an old one. If he does, he will have torn the
new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. 37
And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new
wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins
will be ruined. 38 No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins.
39 And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says,
'The old is better.'" Luke 5:36-39 NIV
Patience - The context of Luke 5 is
Levi's call to follow Jesus. He threw a big party for all his tax
collector friends and invited Jesus. The Pharisees criticized the
disciples for eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners.
New Moves - Let's start with verse
39. Old wine really is milder and sweeter (better). The problem is we
run out of old wine and have no wine. The new wine is still fermenting
and expanding and needs the new wineskins. New wine and new moves aren't
as sweet as the old. The pioneering phase of everything new God has
birthed in God's people has been historically a little painful. That's
when we drive the movement in the ditch a few times trying to find the
middle of the road. Doctrinal issues get clarified and imbalance gets
corrected.
Remember when healing
was a new emphasis? The evangelicals were convinced that gifts of
healing were not for today. After a few decades of people getting healed
it's tough to make that argument and it's largely gone by the wayside.
The same is true of the prophetic, tongues, ministry gifts, etc.
Eventually the new wine ages and becomes sweeter and everybody drinks
it. God doesn't need us to try to force the new wine into the old
wineskins.
Hungry for New Wine - Our Kingly
emphasis is making it happen in our own lives first. There is an
anointing (new wine) available right now that releases Kings into a new
level of prosperity. The finances fund our ministry, release our
spiritual gifts, implement our dreams, and make the great commission a
reality. One day we will esteem the anointing to multiply finances as an
essential part of making Kingly disciples. We'll teach people how to
break off poverty, experience their dream, and set them free to minister
in the marketplace.
You may or may not
feel resistance from the old wineskins - it's OK if you do. Don't worry
about it or focus on it. Here's where our focus needs to be. Right now
their is a groundswell of hunger for the new wine. The "good" old wine
is running out and the new wine doesn't work in the old structures.
However multitudes are hungry for wine and open to your example. There
is a grassroots groundswell of hunger that God has placed in many
pioneers that are longing to be released from poverty and into their
dream. They are weary of living from paycheck to paycheck and sitting on
Sunday. They will drink the new wine... and dance with you.

You're invited into the
vision to release Kings; communicate the message, make the money, and do
the mission.
-
The Message - Our first goal is to
get the Releasing Kings message into the hands of the messengers that
will carry it... do it, preach it, teach it, example it.
-
The Money - The second goal is to
help Kings break out of poverty by networking them with practical
opportunities to prosper. We want to introduce them to the right people,
the right opportunity, and the right financial approach.
-
The Mission - Network Kings with
opportunities to mix business and missions. Accomplish the great
commission through the marketplace.
