Recently the Lord has allowed me to observe three friends define their vision through a business plan with a particular focus on the cash flow. My wife Sue is starting a nursing business. Jayston Tunnelle is looking into a store and Karen Smith is reviewing an opportunity to by a local chocolate store. We talked about the recipe for a business plan in Adding Substance to Your Dream. Here's an example that Pastor Jayston wrote for a grocery store in Monrovia, Liberia. It's a great tool he will use to apply for a loan and make a final decision. A Holy Process - The invitation to help a King formulate his/her vision for a business is sacred ground. It's really like planting a new church. When we start a business our heart's desire's are exposed and vulnerable as we knock on new doors and invite the Holy Spirit to help us. The cash flow for the future business has to be evident to satisfy the profit motive and go through the work of starting a business. The second "must have" to start a business is passion or zeal. Marketplace ministry really is Holy. The key ingredient is enthusiasm for the new adventure. Now it may not be a sweet as falling in love... but it's right up their in terms of the excitement of tapping into something the Holy Spirit wants to give you. Jesus uses imagination to walk us through all the possibilities. Dare to Imagine - Most of us have a history of viewing passion in terms of lust. We've trained ourselves to be on guard for a deceptive heart that craves for what it should not have. Taken to an extreme, we could end up living out our lives trying to keep our hearts from sin... a self-imposed "heart prison" that even Paul couldn't live in (Rom 6-8). A heart that hasn't found the good things of God will try to replace them with sinful substitutes. Discernment is important... but the good news is that Biblical discernment is also fairly easy. The good things God has for us are much more enticing that the cheap counterfeit the enemy offers. You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Ps 16:11 NKJV God designed your heart to be the organ of your destiny. It's through those heart's desires that you find the will of God and obtain the promises for your own land. The childlike enthusiasm in these three business starts are reminders of where we should all live our lives... always attentive to the revelation of new ideas and vision. Always imagining new ways to prosper and minister to others. Living in expectation of the next divine appointment that will remove an obstacle and take us to a new level... and knocking on new doors to find them. The practical side - Duane and Karen Smith recently returned from another trip to Mindanao in the Philippines (Duane is a realtor). They took a team from their church and stayed for two weeks to hold evangelistic crusades and minister in local churches. Four new churches were planted. Before Duane left he and the host pastor discussed how these churches could be supported. They agreed to investigate starting new businesses to help create the finances to support the new ministry. The host pastor recommended four couples that might be candidates for this Kingly ministry... so now businesses plans are their next step. The dream - One of the ways to jumpstart a new vision to have access to the startup capital to get it going. We're working with Mark Charles (Across Borders) to research foundations that provide grants and micro-financing to start new businesses. Trickleup.org is a good example of a foundation that provides small grants to help women start new businesses. Our dream is to find the foundation (or start one) that can provide a banking service for business startups. This is your invitation to help us find the next divine appointment. Imagine... Motivating Kings with the message in Releasing Kings and Desire to Destiny and then helping them dream through the business plan, the financing, and the management of their new marketplace ministry. I think that's what the Father is doing right now - regardless of where they live on our little planet. There are multiplied thousands of Kings in developed nations that have a Fatherly call to reach across a border and help another King start his ministry in the marketplace to change a city... then a nation - with the gospel of good news.
