Doug Meadows -
Our books and
newsletters and conferences give us the privilege of seeing God move
in marketplace ministry all over the world and meeting the Kings that
help it all happen. They are not organized by one hierarchy (except the
King of Kings). They just all seem to get the same direction at the same
time. When the Holy Spirit speaks, anyone with ears can hear the doors
swing open.
Doug Meadows is an entrepreneurial businessman (Jewelry store owner
from Marietta, GA) that caught the idea of expanding the Kingdom by
helping others learn to create wealth. He also has a passion to start
business in the third world and is working on a project in Zimbabwe to
convert soy beans to cooking oil. Giving money to missions can solve an
immediate problem and meet pressing needs. But, it's still giving a man
a fish instead of teaching him to fish. For Kingly entrepreneurs the
skill is learning to create wealth by seeing opportunities right at
home. You'll enjoy reading
Doug's
interview.
"Man's Way" -
There is a simple theological root that allows people like Doug to make
a difference. He makes plans and pursues the desires of his heart. Most
of us come from a belief system that assumes all of man's ways are evil
because of our inherent sinful nature... and that we should wait for God
to guide every step. Here's are some of the verses we use.
The
heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can
understand it? Jer 17:9 NIV
For as
the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than
your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isa 55:9 KJV
The real point of these verses (and many others) is
that we can deceive ourselves. Our motives and actions need to be
discerned. The good news; it's not that hard to discern your plan. Fear
that we can't do anything right causes us to zero out our initiative...
Christians with no plans that God can bless. Catch the phrase, "the Lord
delights in a man's way." I want him to be delighted with my plan.
If
the LORD delights in a man's way, he makes his steps firm;
though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with
his hand. Ps 37:23-24
The Transition from
Servant to King - When we first get saved, we're often full
of plans and ideas that are pretty goofy... some from good intentions
and others not so good. We need the counsel of God and friends that care
about us. However, as we mature in the Lord, He writes His plans on our
hearts and we gradually come to a place where our heart's desires and
God's become one. Now we're at a place where pleasing God depends on
having some desires and plans and making them a reality. It's our
responsibility before God to "have a plan."
To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes
the reply of the tongue. All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but
motives are weighed by the LORD. Commit to the LORD whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed. Prov 16:1-3 NIV
In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines
his steps. Prov 16:9 NIV
It's liberating to realize that God welcomes our
plans and dreams. Knowing that he is faithful to correct our plan to
align it with His is a great safety net. We love it when those
mid-course corrections keep our ship from sinking. However, we don't
expect God to just dump a set of plans on us. He's not looking for
robots; He wants friends (Jn 15:15) and co-laborers. He loves the
fellowship of Kings. He loves inviting them to ask for "Whatever."
I no
longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his
master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for
everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go
and bear fruit — fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you
whatever you ask in my name. John 15:15-16 NIV

hands of the messengers that will carry it... do it, preach it,
teach it, example it.

them with practical opportunities to prosper. We want to introduce
them to the right people, the right opportunity, and the right
financial approach.
