Personal Revival
- Last week we wrote about
revival in the marketplace. It touched a very positive nerve based
on the emails we got back. There is a lot of confusion about how to "ask
for" or "start" a revival. We don't even know who is responsible to get
it going (God, our community pastors, or us). Most of us lean toward
some combination of pastors praying in unity and God... partly because
it doesn't really involve us. We don't see a role for individual
saints other than prayer.
Holding our pastors responsible for city-wide
revival isn't quite fair because revival is something that targets our
cities and nations. We applaud their initiatives and support them; we
just don't put all our eggs in one basket. God will multiply our efforts
but may not sovereignly initiate a move without participation from
people like you and I. Here's my simple point. We can have revival,
renewal, or reformation; whenever we own the responsibility to initiate
it in our own lives and communities. We can start right now! The door is
open.
Personal favor
- Real revival starts with personal favor. Instead of waiting for a big
sweeping movement from elsewhere, let's simply step into the favor and
let the contagious nature of God's blessing spread. The favor on God's
people to prosper and convert money into ministry is amazing right now.
Note: When
we say things like this I'm cheating. It's not prophetic or a
theory. I'm just hearing the testimonies at conferences and watching
what God is doing through our network of Releasing Kings contacts.
It's absolutely encouraging.
What's the biggest missing ingredient? Your and my
personal initiative. God is in the business of prospering all you "do."
And his
master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all
that he did to prosper in his hand. And Joseph found grace in
his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his
house, and all that he had he put into his hand. Gen 39:3-4
KJV
The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his
hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the
LORD made it to prosper. Gen 39:23 KJV
To often after "all has been said and done, a lot
has been said and nothing has been done!" We've been pretty busy
avoiding performance orientation instead setting our foot on our land.
God loves your initiative. He will not fall off the throne if you make a
mistake.
Be
strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my
servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the
left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Do not
let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day
and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in
it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not
commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not
be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever
you go." Josh 1:7-9 NIV
Diversity -
Much has been made of the need for unity before we can have revival.
What we heard in our hearts from the unity theory is "wait." Unity has
also put our focus on the perceived shortcomings of others instead of
our personal example of favor, prosperity, and fruit. God values your
uniqueness and your initiative to ask for the desire of your heart far
above our tendency to blend into a group and disappear. You're important
to the Kingdom. The call on your life will cause to you to stand out in
several areas.
He is
like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in
season
and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. Ps
1:3 NIV
-
Notoriety - your name will be made great (Gen
12:2-3)
-
Bless the nations - Your personal favor, fame,
and prosperity are really just tools to carry our the great
commission. The good news of the gospel is that all nations will be
blessed through you; it's time to get started right where we are.
The
Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and
announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will
be blessed through you." Gal 3:8 NIV
Start the fire
- The most amazing ingredient in historic and Biblical revivals is how
fast they multiply based on the initiative of a relatively small number
of people. We can accomplish the big picture (with God's help). What we
cannot do is postpone walking in God's favor. Your portion starts when
you take the steps to make your dream come true. We must ask for the
desire in our heart. That's a wonderful step; to see God working in us
to make a dream come true. However, there is even of level of favor
beyond that. Just listen.
Now to
Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask
or think, according to the power that works in us... Eph 3:20 NKJV
However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no
mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"—
but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. 1 Cor 2:9-10 NIV
God plan for favoring "you" goes far beyond your
wildest expectations. We've all greatly underestimated the goodness and
favor of God working through us. Touching that realm is touching
revival. The whole process starts with your initiative. It's time to
try.
Life is an adventure. People are a blessing.
God is amazing. We're winning.
